Cartagena Hotels retaliate.

Cartagena Hotels have been raising their rates to almost twice the countries national average. So visitors stay in apartments where that can stay for much cheaper and not be harassed by hotel security. Now many of the Cartagena Hotels have been have lobbying the government to stop people from renting there apartments. The first move it to impose high taxes on the renters. Greed of the hotels!

Top dollar in Colombia ?

Actually if you want to attract tourists to Cartagena you give reasonable prices. If you give reasonable prices more people will come and buy goods and eat in resteraunts. Thus boosting the economy for cartagena. By charging outrages prices less people will be inclined to visit thus less money coming into the city.

Hotels to high

I agree if the kept there rates low they would dramatically increase tourism.
We were running 12 tours a month, now we are down to three, that a 75% decrease
Cartagena tourism has been dropping for years now; Hotel management needs to wake up. During this same time our travel to Medellin is at a all time high. Same with Barranquilla.
